I have heard a lot about Momofuku Noodle Bar in New York, and as a interested person who thinks David Chang is pretty cool, we decided to try it out for Lena’s birthday lunch. It is close to where I went to the old Stuyvesant HS, where I went to high school, so it was interesting to take a trip back down to the area to see how it was. I haven’t been down there for at least 20 years now.
Each date has a different menu at Momofuku. Here is this date’s.
We started with a Soju Slushie, this one was a Palmer. The American/Korean influence here. The Korean is the Soju, while the American is the Palmer, which is half Lemonade and half Iced Tea.
Nicely cooling and refreshing, quite a nice start.
We went for the daily special bun to start, which was the Sausage Bun. This came with Cucumber, Lettuce, Red Onion and Mustard. It was certainly a little different, as the meat was just like a Polish Sausage or a Knockwurst. Better than Spam, but not too elevated.
The Pork Buns here are to die for, but we decided to go for this instead. Though the pork buns looked good. If you have more people, get more different kinds to try!
The Momofuku Ramen is pretty standard fare. Pork Belly and Pork Shoulder, along with a poached egg. Veggies and nori accompany it.
The taste was a little salty, but the flavor was quite nice. I rather enjoyed it.
