Kaohsiung is known for good seafood, and one of the best seafood restaurants is 八卦.  Ba Gua has a nice selection of seafood in a casual atmosphere.  Located in the newer upper class neighborhood that has been created in Kaoshiung, it is a great place to get together and have a good meal.

Ba Gua is one of those places where you go in and choose what they want.  They make a great effort to have seafood from around Taiwan.  They get deliveries from all of these areas and provide it here for you.

When you have fish as fresh as this, you start with a little sashimi, Maguro in this case.  So fresh and wonderful.

Let the seafood parade begin!  Here we have Salt Baked Clams. The saltiness on the outside contributes to the sweetness of the clam inside.  A heavenly treat this was!

Fresh prawns are placed on a bed of sea salt and then steamed.

And Voila!  So sweet and great tasting also.  Fresh as fresh can be.

Steamed Crab with plenty of crab roe! So sweet and good.

 

To complement these we add some Fried Yam with Mushrooms.

And some lovely melon with some crab meat.

And some Fried Rice.

Dessert is Bamboo Shoots.

I have to say, what a great atmosphere and great food.  Definitely a great spot to enjoy seafood in Kaohsiung.  I can see why it’s a favorite of the locals and why there is always a queue and reservations are necessary.
