The Place Mall is where it’s at to try a lot of different things, as a lot of malls are in Shanghai. Different cuisines from different parts of China. Yunnan cuisine can be found at 雲南云彩泥.
It’s quite a big place, with a lot of different areas to sit.
One of the dishes to try is their noodles. They bring out a tray of items they want to put into it and you choose what you want and don’t want to add. No extra cost.
We chose everything, so here’s a sampling of what one bowl looks like. Each big stonepot has about 6 bowls of noodles.
This is Tilapia. It looks spicy as anything, but it’s not! It’s quite sweet and flavorful.
This is fried prawns with deep fried Pu-Er tea leaves. This was one outstanding dish.
Spring Rolls with mushroom inside. OK.
Homemade Tofu with a spicy powder dip. Disgusting. Dry, limp, crumbly and just nasty.
Anything is worth a try! Most of it was great, the tofu, definitely not.
