雲南云彩泥 – Hongqiao, Shanghai

The Place Mall is where it’s at to try a lot of different things, as a lot of malls are in Shanghai.  Different cuisines from different parts of China.  Yunnan cuisine can be found at 雲南云彩泥.

img_0294It’s quite a big place, with a lot of different areas to sit. img_0291One of the dishes to try is their noodles.  They bring out a tray of items they want to put into it and you choose what you want and don’t want to add.  No extra cost. img_0286We chose everything, so here’s a sampling of what one bowl looks like.  Each big stonepot has about 6 bowls of noodles. img_0287This is Tilapia.  It looks spicy as anything, but it’s not!  It’s quite sweet and flavorful. img_0285This is fried prawns with deep fried Pu-Er tea leaves.  This was one outstanding dish.img_0288 Spring Rolls with mushroom inside.  OK.img_0289 Homemade Tofu with a spicy powder dip.  Disgusting.  Dry, limp, crumbly and just nasty.img_0290Anything is worth a try!  Most of it was great, the tofu, definitely not.
