イタリアン・レストラン (Al Porto) – Big Sight, Tokyo

Al Porto is an Italian restaurant in Tokyo that is helmed by Mamoru Kataoka.  In reading, he is one of the pioneers of Italian cuisine in Tokyo and his place in Minato, Nishiazabu, is quite renowned.

I was at the Tokyo Big Sight for an exhibition and we decided to go to his small branch here to have some lunch.

It’s a nice view from inside (no pictures, sorry about that!) and they have a set lunch special which comprises of a Salad, Choice of Pasta and Dessert.

I went for the Bolognese, because it was nice and simple and it’s a good indication of good pasta.

This one was pretty good.  Light and tasted just right.  Hints of tartness and sweetness.  The pasta was al dente, which is perfect for Italians, but I like mine a little softer. Dessert was a simple cake and ice cream.Set lunch was about 1,900 Yen.  Typical costs for Tokyo and at an exhibition site. I have to be honest, I never knew this was here.  Will have to try it again some time.
