There has been such a craze for Chee Cheong Fun lately in Singapore, started by Happy Congee. But there is an old school seller of this in Geylang East Hawker Centre which has been doing it for many years.
The store is simply called 粥 and offers congee and chee cheong fun.
For me, Zha Liang is at the top of any list. The one here is pretty good, but it could be crispier, as it isn’t fried before rolling. The uncle steams the flour and then rolls it right on the spot.
I went for the Pork and Century Egg Congee, which was full of flavor and definitely reminded me of Hong Kong.
It takes a little time as the uncle is a one-man operation, but it is worth it, especially if the queue is not too long.
