Xokol was recommended as a great place to dine, so we, as a group of 12, gave it a shot.
We had to order the Degustation Menu, but they do have an a la carte menu. We would come to regret this.
An open kitchen and you could see all that was going on. The focus of this restaurant is corn, and how they use it. Let’s see what creative dishes they have.
Some Blue Corn Tortillas with a Pepper Salsa. Not bad, just not enough. I wanted more!
A Fried Mushroom with a Mushroom Broth mixed with some greens. Interesting.
A Kanpachi Mince underneath a colored Tortilla, with a colored cracker. Unassuming but flavorful.
A Bean Mixture topped with an Oyster. Not my taste on the combination at all.
An Empanda with Minced Fish inside and Creme Fraiche. This one was pretty good.
A Crab Mousse with a Crab Bisque. I was good with this.
A Taco with Beans and Veggies. OK I guess.
A Chayote and Cauliflower Soup. This was good.
Fish with a creme and reduction. Not enough food.
Duck Breat with sauce. Wrap it in a Mother Mary Tortilla. This was for 2 people! Not enough!
Dessert was one dish for a table of 12 of each dish! Watermelon, Mousse, Creme Brulee, Vanilla Creme, Biscuits.
I found the place overrated for what it was. Maybe the a la carte menu was better. But this was a huge disappointment to me.
