Chinois

I don’t do a lot of celebrity chef restaurants because I think a lot of them are highly overpriced, but when we had a Tung Lok Groupon and we saw that we could use it on Chinois we went for it.

I love Susur Lee, loved him on Top Chef Masters and have just heard about him so much.  So it was going to be a treat!

Marble Goby with Black Truffles.

The fish was so delicate and well cooked.  The sauce unbelievable.  Man, what a great dish.

Crispy Greens in Peanut Sauce.

It left a little to be desired, and it was a cold dish.  But about the only vegetable option on the menu.

Tomatos with Crab Leg on Crispy Rice Puffs.

The puffs were interesting, and the tomato also.  I would say just ok.

Seared Foie Gras with Smoked Duck and an Orange Reduction.

The duck was nice, and Lena said the foie gras was great.

San Bei Tien Jie.

The frog cooked nicely, the three cups blended well.  Great.

Lobster with Cripsy Noodles.

The sauce a little sweet, but not overpowering.  The crispy noodles were interesting, that’s for sure.

I enjoyed my experience here, quite nice.  I would love to go back and try some different things.
