Our first anniversary promised many exciting things for us. We had booked the Sydney Bridge Climb and we were both looking forward to it. Unfortunately it rained. And continued to rain for the whole morning. So we had no choice, we had to climb in the rain. But it wasn’t so bad, quite fun!
We had a great time climbing the bridge.
After we climbed the bridge, we headed across to the Sydney Opera House where we grabbed a quick bite at a local shop at Circular Quay. A fish sandwich and chicken pie. No pics though.
Afterwards, we went on the Sydney Opera House tour. Quite an interesting tour and it was fun to see the insides and to hear the stories.
We then headed to the Sydney Aquarium for a view of sea life before we had our Anniversary Dinner.
Then it was off across Darling Harbour to have our dinner.
The previous night we had walked around when we arrived and looked at all the restaurant choices. We knew we wanted to have our Anniversary Dinner here, but which restaurant, we didn’t know.
We looked around and we saw The Plate. It had interesting dishes and some things that we did not normally see on the menus of other restaurants. Since we liked adventure and wanted to try things, this is what we chose.
The Plate.
Here is the menu, not quite so legible, but definitely different.

We started off with Grilled Haloumi, crispy prosciutto, watermelon, cherry tomatoes on rocket with white wine balsamic vinegrette. The Haloumi cheese was not quite to our liking, so we really didn’t finish it. the rest of the salad was nice though.

The one thing that we wanted to try was the Braised Emu, but they had run out of stock. We were quite disappointed as we wanted to try it after seeing one at Currumbin.
We went with Tempura Crocodile with lemon myrtle and mango. Very nicely fried, the sauce was quite nice also and the meat tender.
Wallaby shanks slow cooked in Tasmanian red wine and served on honey, beetroot and bush tomato chutney. The shanks were a little dry, but the flavor was quite nice.
Peppered and seared Kangaroo with an aged balsamic red wine jus. This was juicy, well seasoned and very tasty.
Happy First Anniversary!
And of course to top it off, we had Gelato!
What a great way to spend our first anniversary. I love you Lena!
