Founder Bak Kut Teh is well known from their original branch on Balestier. They’ve now franchised out, as a lot of famous local brands have, to a branch in Jalan Besar, on Jalan Sultan in a hotel.
Relatively quiet at 9pm on a Friday night, it was time to try their famous items.
They have a few selections for ribs. Normal, Premium, but I go with the Baby Back Ribs, or “Small Ribs” (小排骨). Meaty and tender, the soup is quite peppery.
Kidney Soup, in the same broth. You can order the kidney how you like. Lena likes it half cooked, so when it arrives it’s not overdone.
Some Hae Cho, or Prawn Rolls. Soft and tender also and crispy on the outside.
It’s good, not bad. I like Ng Ah Sio a little better because of the broth. But still, not bad.
