Little Hanoi – Shaw Centre

There is a Food Republic in the basement of Shaw Centre.  It’s actually pretty accessible via the MRT and next to the Food Hall of Isetan.  Little did I know that there was a pretty authentic Vietnamese place there.  Little Hanoi seems to do things right.

When you look at the menu, if you blink, you’ll miss the little placard that advertises bún thịt nướng chả giò, or the BBQ Pork with Rice Vermicelli.  Get it. Even though it’s called Little Hanoi, it is served Southern Vietnamese style.  That means it’s all in one bowl and you put the dressing on it.  In the north you take it and dip it into the sauce to eat it.

The taste is outstanding.  Freshly grilled.  Sweet but not too sweet.  The sauce is not too overpowering and the spring roll is not too oily.  A great bowl of noodles. Then of course I had to go with the Pork Belly Banh Mi also.  The bread is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.  Just enough meat and veggies to have some of it all plus the bread in every bite.  Enough sauce to make it zing. This is worthy of visiting over and over again.
