When I was growing up in New York City we got our subs from local shops or from Blimpie. There was really no Subway, Jimmy John’s, Jersey Mike’s, Mr. Subb, etc prevalent in many places.
I would stop at Blimpie in the morning for a Bacon, Egg and Cheese on Roll. Scramble the egg, add bacon and cheese on top and put in the microwave to cook and then in a Kaiser Roll. Many breakfast sandwiches for me like this.
Subs, I would rarely try as local delis had better subs in my opinion. But every once in awhile I would try.
But I digress with the blast from the past.
Blimpie has opened at Kinex and I knew I had to try it out and be reminded of years gone by.
The Blimp is Turkey, Roast Beef, Salami, Pepperoni and Provolone with accompaniments.
It was a little disappointing. The bread was not soft and really dry. The meat was ok and dressing was ok.
