Thalappakatti is a chain restaurant that is very well-known for its different style of Biryani.
The Biryani here is made from a shorter grain rice, instead of the longer grain Basmati that you usually see. That in turn creates a Biryani that is more moist and sticky, similar to a Japanese Rice.
We ordered a Mutton version and a Vegetarian version, and I prefer this rice than basmati. Maybe it’s because I am a stickier, moist rice person. But the flavor was right there.
A Pea and Mushroom Curry with Paratha was an enjoyable meal, and even better on a Banana Leaf!
