Congee has to be a certain way in order for me to like it. It has to be thick, the rice has to have exploded and so much that you can’t see individual grains of rice, and it must be rich and flavorful. Seng Mei at Old Airport Road touches all those points, so if I want congee there, I go to Seng Mei.
Congee can be eaten at any time of the day, that’s part of why I like it.
I like that Seng Mei gives you half a piece of You Tiao with each bowl of congee. In my opinion, You Tiao is needed for any congee/porridge.
Stir up the goodness of the Lean Pork and Century Egg Porridge, and yummy yummy!
It’s thick, the rice is exploded and it’s purely Hong Kong style, but not quite there. Best congee at Old Airport Road.
