I was just at a work event in Penang and had the pleasure of catching up with some old friends for lunch. Right by the Penang International Sports Arena (PISA), there is a little “coffee shop” style tze char restaurant called Pineapple Garden.
My Penang friends said it was very local, the couple that runs it prepares homestyle cooking for their customers.
One of the most interesting things, aside from the food, is that they have taken old console televisions and made them into aquariums! Sorry, I didn’t get a picture of it though.
My friends ordered a few dishes, the first of which was a nice stew of chicken and veggies with other items. Pure claypot chinese cooking.
Some steamed Codfish with Mushrooms and Ginger. Nice.
Some Fried Pork with Chili and Sweet Sauce. Yum. I love this stuff, in fact I love anything similar to Sweet and Sour Pork in this style.
And of course Kang Kong to balance the stomach.
The food is pretty good, very home style and the price is good too. A total recommendation from me!
