It’s a New Year and we wanted to start out with some seafood. Fremantle Seafood Market has been on my radar for a bit, because it sounded like a fresh place for seafood.
Located at Clarke Quay, I wondered if it was just a tourist trap or if it had some value.
All seating is outdoors, by the river. It shares its outdoor space with the Thai place next door.
I always thought the menu was larger, but apparently not. We decided to go with the Hot Seafood Platter for 2 at SGD$86.
Soft Shell Crabs, Oysters, Mussels and Clams, Steamed Prawns and Baby Octopus. The flavors weren’t bad. The Baby Octopus stood out for me, the Soft Shell Crab a little overdone. The Prawn a little plain, the Oysters a little salty, and the Mussels and Clams had a nice broth that got more peppery as it sat there.
Would I do this again? Probably not. The cost is for what you see below — the view of Clarke Quay and the Singapore River. It’s definitely a premium for the spot and yes, it’s a touristy trap.
