Eat like a local can be intimidating, especially when you are not sure if you can order correctly, or how to order at all. Especially at a small street stall on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City. It helps when you have a local with you.
At the corner of Trương Định and Lê Thánh Tông in District 1 near Ben Thanh, there is a small table that sells Pho Bo in the morning.
All you do is let them get a stool for you, order a bowl – nothing else to say – and then they serve you for 55,000 VND.
What you get is a bowl of sweet and savory broth, filled with silky Pho and different cuts of beef from brisket to tendon to meatballs.
Now, no more being intimidated for me. I am going to go again. And again. And again…
