Whenever I pass this place in the basement of Plaza Singapura when I go to and from the MRT, it is always packed with people and a long queue. This time, it was mid-afternoon, I hadn’t had lunch and I was hungry, so I decided to go for my comfort food as there was no queue.
One of the biggest items of comfort food that I go for is Hong Kong Wonton Noodles with Beef Brisket. It is a go to dish for me when I am hungry and want something that I always love.
Unfortunately it’s hard to find that combination anywhere outside of Hong Kong or a Chinatown, and pretty impossible in Singapore. So what do you do? You order two dishes, especially if one is a good price. It is here.
First off, I order Wonton Noodle Soup. It is the go to. You can’t find these noodles in stores in Singapore to make at home and it’s a shame. But I love them and here you get them very nicely. The Wonton has a strong Sesame Oil flavor, but the prawns are juicy inside and this is what a Wonton should be, not the Singapore/Malaysia style ones which are small and miniscule.
Then I add on the Beef Brisket Noodles and just combine it all. This is flavorful and tender beef. Just nice. I get it dry, because I combine it all.
Put it all together and I am home. This outlet is pretty good and the damage was $12 for these dishes. That’s a win.
