Vietnamese is another of the Asia cuisines that is growing in popularity and the abundance of smaller Viet eateries continues to grow in Singapore. The one that a lot of people turn to is Long Phung in Joo Chiat.
Long considered a leader and on a lot of favorite lists, I needed to give it a try.
There are plenty of menus everywhere around the place. Outside, on the wall, on paper, etc.
Here is a sampling of some of the items in the menu. The menu literally has 100 plus items.
Simple, so as to judge just how good it is.
We start with the Gỏi Cuốn – Summer Rolls. Fresh Prawn, Herbs, Veggies, and just really, really good.
Bún Thịt Nướng Chả Giò – one of my go-tos. Here it’s all in one bowl rather than separated out. So this is more of the South Vietnam style. Fresh pork, spring rolls crispy. I poured the sauce into the bowl as it was presented this way. Excellent!
They are very well know for their Pho, so I went for the Phở Đặc Biệt – the special Beef Pho. The broth was so tasty. Deep in flavor and pretty awesome. I also noticed that there is an egg in there, not something I usually find in Pho.
This place is definitely worth the visit. Service is so-so, but the food is great.
So we went again!
Phnom Penh Pho – soup stock is amazing and full of flavorBun Thit Nuong Cha Gio – pork made just right and great spring rolls, but this time not as pretty as previously
Prawn Cake – this one was interesting
Cafe Sua Da – love this all the time
